Abstract
Summary: Trigeminal neuralgia is defined as a syndrome characterized by sudden, short-term, intense, recurring pain in the area of one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve, usually on one side of the face. Pharmacological therapy has remained the first line of treatment for trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Among surgical treatments, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is one of the most common treatments for TN. Two radio frequency symbols are commonly used: continuous radio frequency ablation and pulsed radio frequency ablation. In this article, we discuss treatment indications, surgical methods and complications of each treatment strategy.References
